Jlab Go Air Pop True Wireless Earbuds Review 2022

Jlab Go Air Pop True Wireless Earbuds Review 2022

This JLab Go Air Pop review is for anyone looking for some of the best budget wireless earbuds; they’re affordable without sacrificing too much quality, and they’d make a terrific present.

There aren’t many other cheap headphones that can compete with these. I recently evaluated the Skullcandy Dime, which costs around the same, but the JLab Go Air Pop outperforms it in every way, including sound quality, battery life, functionality, and even design.

Jlab Go Air Pop True Wireless Earbuds Performance

Given how inexpensive the JLab Go Air Pop wireless earbuds are, the audio quality is surprising – they won’t blow you away like some of the best wireless earbuds, but the sound is clear, sharp, and well balanced, so there aren’t any major flaws to be found.

Surprisingly, these headphones come with three separate equaliser settings: JLab Signature, Balanced, and Bass Boost. To switch between them, you don’t even need to launch a smartphone app; simply triple-tap on the earbuds.

The sound isolation on these earphones is actually extremely good; you can barely hear anything around you when the music is playing. Obviously, dedicated noise-cancelling technology would be preferable, but at this price, you can’t have it everything.

Call quality is one area where these earphones fail miserably. The person on the other end of the line had a hard time understanding me, especially when I was in a crowded area or near a road. So, while you can use them to make calls, I doubt you would.

Jlab Go Air Pop True Wireless Earbuds Design

The first thing you’ll notice when you open the JLab Go Air Pop is how little the charging case for the earbuds is. You’ll be able to effortlessly put it into your pocket and it won’t take up much room in your purse. With the earphones inside, it only weights 35.4g, so you won’t even notice it’s there.

The JLab Go Air Pop is available in a variety of colours, including black, lilac, teal, rose, and slate. There’s a wide range of colours to choose from, so you’re likely to find one you enjoy for yourself or as a present for someone else.

The buds themselves are small and spherical, with a simple and understated style. However, given their low price, you shouldn’t anticipate too much in terms of build quality. Each earbud is extremely light and constructed of thin plastic; they don’t appear to be readily destroyed, but they also don’t inspire confidence that they will survive indefinitely. When you open and close the case, the lid also feels a touch fragile.

These true wireless earbuds do, however, offer IPX4 water resistance, so while they won’t survive a swim, they’ll be good if they get wet from rain or perspiration.

The JLab Go Air Pop comes with three sizes of silicone ear tips to help you find the right fit. They’re actually extremely comfy; the small spherical buds fit comfortably in your ear and didn’t budge during my workout. After a couple of hours, I started to feel a little uncomfortable, although they were great before that.

The earbuds will last roughly 8 hours of music, giving you a total of 32 hours of listening time with the charging case. That’s quite impressive for a pair of low-cost true wireless earphones.

A USB cable is hidden in a gap on the underside of the case and can be used to charge it again. It takes roughly 2 hours to fully restore the case, and slightly over 2 hours to fully restore the earbuds.

Touch buttons on the outside of each bud let you to alter the music. To pause or play the music, double-touch on the right earbud; a single tap on the same side will increase the volume; and pressing and holding down on the bud will skip forward to the next song. A single press on the left-hand side lowers the volume, a double-tap activates your smartphone’s voice assistant, and holding it down skips backwards. You can also use these controls to accept or reject calls, hang up the phone, and cycle through the equaliser settings.

The controls are quite responsive and functioned every time I tried them, though I did notice that when I tried to skip tracks, I kept pausing the music instead. Even so, having that level of control without having to grab for your phone is fantastic.

Jlab Go Air Pop True Wireless Earbuds Value

Jlab has been creating earphones for a long, and they all appear to share one trait: they’re all dirt inexpensive. Cheap does not automatically imply a poor experience, nor does it always imply good value. The GO Air Pop buds are among the most affordable on the market, at $20, but I’ve heard worse that cost more. They aren’t fantastic, but they don’t need to produce miracles to get a pass because they can be acquired for nearly nothing. While these are definitely not for audiophiles, they are adequate if you don’t want to spend a lot of money on earbuds that you will use and damage.

Pros
  • Slim, pocketable design
  • Built-in charging cable
  • Solid battery life
Cons
  • Cheap plastic build
  • No accompanying app
  • No ANC

Final Thoughts

If you’re looking for cheap wireless earbuds, the JLab Go Air Pop are the finest option. These are really inexpensive, but they still have a lot of functions, good sound quality, and a long battery life.

Of course, they’re not perfect, and the sound quality pales in comparison to headphones costing twice or three times as much, but it’s the call quality that truly falls short.

Regardless, the JLab Go Air Pop cost approximately the same as a takeout pizza, making them without a doubt the greatest inexpensive headphones for those trying to spend as little as possible.
